Armon Fletcher passed Carlton Fay on SIU’s All-Time scoring list early last Saturday in a game against Evansville. Fletcher only needed one basket to break his tie with Troy Hudson and pass Carlton Fay, officially entering the top 30 All-Time in scoring for Saluki History. He’s now sitting at 29th All-Time with 1,177 points, 15 points away from Stetson Harrison and 26 away from Tom McGreal.
“It’s pretty cool,” Fletcher says of the achievement. “Coming from high school, I was like 52 points away from 1000… For me to be in the 1000 point club here and get in the top 30 is pretty cool.”
For the kid that’s averaged 10.7 ppg, and over 14.0 ppg the past two seasons, it’s not a surprise that Fletcher would reach these heights in Saluki history. But that’s never been the goal for for the guard. He’d instead just like a fairy tale ending to his college career.
“These last seven games – go undefeated, go into the conference tournament and win the championship, and go to the NCAA Tournament,” Fletcher says.
